Isaiah is the middle name of my grandfather, my father, and now me. They learned best through observation, experimenting, and trial and error.
My curiosity about candles goes all the way back to elementary school. Every year, our school held a fundraiser where students sold items such as gift wrap supplies, kitchen gadgets, home accents, and gourmet treats. What caught my attention the most were the candles. My parents ordered two for our home; Baked Apple Pie and Strawberries & Cream. That was the moment my interest in candles began.
At first, it was the smell that stood out, but over time, I began to appreciate all the ways candles add value to our lives; whether it's helping us relax, elevating our spaces, enhancing special moments, or reflecting who we are.
I’ve always had a passion for education and a strong work ethic. With 23 years in food service, 10 years of classroom teaching, and a master’s degree in Human Resources, I decided to take those experiences and build something of my own. I’ve brainstormed plenty of business ideas over the years, but it wasn’t until October 2018 that the idea of transforming candle making from a hobby into a business finally stuck, and stayed.
Isaiah’s Candle Company was created from the combination of my family’s learning styles, my curiosity about fragrances, and my passion to educate and create. After years of paying close attention to the scents people connect with for different reasons, I was inspired to develop a line of candles that spark nostalgia and wake up your senses, one scent at a time.
